Fourth of July

Hello all,
This week the soup kitchen was closed for the fourth so I will harvest extra next week. I thought I would share some stories from the kind gardeners I shared seedlings 🌱 with this spring.
My kind student gardener Enoch whom has helped me with the courtyard garden for the last three years has started his own home garden and his mother shared this text and photos with me.

β€œWe’ve made pesto, salads, used herbs for chicken alfredo, several cucumbers and tomatoes we have enjoyed! Thanks all your mentoring the last couple years we have really loved gardening during this season. Enoch has had a few playdates and it his highlight to share a tour of our garden with his friends.”

I was delighted to hear how proud he was to share his garden with his friends. Here’s a photo from their garden.
His tomatoes πŸ… are doing well!
Another employee I work with started her first garden this year and I donated tomatoes, swiss chard, brussel sprouts and kale to her efforts. She reported she’s had some beautiful salads already.
So even with these difficult times there can be joy each day when they enter their gardens and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.
I hope you too are enjoying some peace in nature this Fourth of July πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Plant something beautiful and watch it grow!
Kindly ,
Cathy McElroy
