Hello all,
Today’s harvest was full of delicious greens 🥬. There were collard greens, kale, butter lettuce, Swiss chard, and kohlrabi greens. A few of the last of springs carrots 🥕, as well as some delicious mint. Here’s the harvest at Shortridge’s community garden.
The learning garden is really teaching the community this year!
And at the church near their re-opening signs for the soup kitchen. Notice the second sign that says “ We have missed you”
The chef was excited to see mint again in the harvest.
He said it made wonderful sun tea. The kohlrabi was the star of the show this week with it’s beautiful green color.
This was a new vegetable to me a few years ago. I try to plant something new each year. Fennel is my new try this year. It’s looking good as well.
My husband and I have been riding our tandem bicycle down to the gardens to water
a good reason to get her out of the carriage house.
Well that’s all for this week. Please stay safe and healthy.
Kindly,
Cathy McElroy
